The song in my head - inspirational

This song is not new to my head, and I wish I had been documenting these songs in my head throughout my teen years. Without this song, I would not be the man I am today. Strong, happy and carefree most of all.  This song got me through the times when i felt like everyone was against me and like I couldn't do anything right.

This song will reassure you that you can do "whatever " you want,  as good as you want. Essentially drilling into you heart that you are in charge of yourself and not to give a fuck about the others who discriminate. That as long as you are happy with the way you do things, who cares about how others think you should do things.

This song should be heard by everyone and anyone who is feeling angst and needs a mantra to not drown in life. Not only will this song pump you up to and get you motivated, it will drive you to set you own standard for your own work ethic.

You must impress your self first, you must make yourself happy first.

Turn it up. The entire albums is golden.

Shaving 101

I have taken up the long lost art of shaving my facial hair, as of late.

I have never liked shaving. It takes took too long, it's messy.

I let my facial hair get to the point where my wife says " oooh I love your sexy gruff". And then go beyond to the point where I look like I'm about to start howling at the moon.

My beard never grows in as thick as I would hope. Patchy blonde with hints of red and black. And takes too long to fill in to the lumberjack look. So By this time I need to find the electric razor to mow through the brush , however the electric razor never really shaves my face completely smooth.

But lately, I have been giving it another go.

My new tactic is to mow through the brush with the electric razor. Then rinse my face with hot water. This makes my face feel like it's opening up. Then I have been using foam shaving cream. The drug store brand. I have been using a brand named gel product and I believe this was another reason why I hated shaving in the first place. So the foam cream is easily applied and easily removed. Then shave with my Mach 3. Leaving water in the sink to swish the razor after every swipe removes all hair from blades. Then when finished I rinse my face with cold water and my face feels amazing. I think this still takes about 15 minutes but It's worth it.

And done.

I think I will try to start doing this on a somewhat regular basis.

Honey will save the world

This week has been a mile stone in my life.

As many of our friends and family know, my wife and I are quite choosy when it comes to the food we eat. We are avid supporters of buying local. I will always look to see where food at grocery store comes from. If I can buy tomatoes from Canada instead of from Mexico for example, I will choose the closest. Supporting our economy as well as, in one small way, helping our environment. I know that the truck is driving whether I buy the tomato or not, but it makes me feel better. The same goes for our CSA. We have bought into a CSA from a local Farm. Where every week we get a box of organic vegetables and fruit and farm fresh eggs and so on. We have done this to again support our local economy, the farmers directly. Instead of the box stores shipping it in from everywhere else except the closest suppliers.

This shift has been relatively easy. The health of my family has been greatly effected for the better. This mind set instilled in my daughter of healthy thinking will no doubt make her make healthy choices for her entire lifetime.

My biggest downfall left is the consumption of sugar. Especially in my coffee. I put a teaspoon of sugar into every coffee I drink. A coffee as soon as I wake up, one on the drive to work, one at work before I start working, usually one around lunch time, one if its cold outside around 2 or 3pm, and then maybe 2 or 3 cups of de-Cafe after supper.

Everyday, that's 6 or 7 teaspoons or straight white sugar in my system from coffee alone. That's on top of everything else that sugar is in.

Everything,
Sugar is like a drug to our bodies, it makes us feel good while we are tasting it and then it hurts our bodies when it is being digested and then makes us want more.  A single sugar factory produces 400,000+ tonnes of sugar a year.  Sugar companies are loving the trend of sugar being in everything.

So , as of this week I have taken a stand and have switched to putting natural honey into my coffee. A half teaspoon is enough for a large coffee. The very first mouthful I could taste the honey. A little different but tasty. The next few mouthfuls and it was delish!  My wife who doesn't like sugar in her coffee says it makes normal coffee taste like a latte. I believe it tastes just like a coffee I'd make everyday. With no added processed sugar. I can drink the coffees guilt free until. I cut back the coffee as well.

And to top it all off, the honey we get is local, from right here in Nova Scotia. Like 30minutes away. Their bees could have been on my flowers, who knows.

So, if I could convince everyone to buy local, and to switch sugar in their coffee to honey,

I would save the environment and potentially their lives.

Saturday's Surprise = The song in my head

Well as I woke up to a beautiful sunny day. The sun glimmering off the mounds of snow. I know it will be a great Saturday. As I take my dog out for a pee, I notice the front tire of my car is flat. As I look closer , the rim is bent and the hub cap is cracked.  I remember the deep pot hole I hit last night on the highway.  I remember after hitting the jolting pothole that I was being very conscious of how he car was reacting and trying to tell if there was anything  indicating something had broke. Not that I could tell.

As I stood there I knew all I could really do was take the tire off to get replaced. As I took off the tire, the bolts came off as easy as they ever had, which was nice in the -15 C temperature. A new Rim had been a lot cheaper than I envisioned.

So my daughter and I took the tire and rim to the shop to get replaced and continued into the city to see a basketball game my wife had own tickets for. before  heading in we were trying to find out if I could pick up the tickets without my wife being there but could not get any response.  We decided to try anyways, knowing we may not be able to get In but it was with a try.

The whole way in, we had the music cranked and this same song kept playing on all the radio channels and it's really catchy and everyone seems to like it or even if they don't, they can't help dance to it.

At the box office we tell them our story and they gave us the tickets without hastle and my daughter and I enter the game where they are giving out great swag . I also get a call from the shop to say our tire and rim is fix and it wasn't as bad as I had thought.

So after all we had a great day and I really hadn't worried to much about the little problems and focused on the fun things and  made it , as our family always does , a Triple A Adventure .  While we were pumped and the game was about to start the cheerleaders came out and preformed their dance to the same song that was going though my head all day.

Happy Friday

I hope everyone had a great Friday
I know I had and I know that tomorrow will be even better
Because Fridays are great
But Saturdays are always better
Every time

The song in my head

I'm always getting songs stuck in my head throughout the day. Some complete , some just a tune , but always random. Sometimes I hear it , other times it's a tune from my childhood I haven' thought about in years.

My goal now is to try to keep track of these tunes in my head as best as I can because after all it is the soundtrack to our lives.

I know this song is popular right now and although am going to take my daughter to his concert as he's opening with Taylor swift this summer. The lyrics in this song are some of the best and I believe everyone should not only like this song but live it. I am currently learning to play this. Sounds like a nice bonfire tune .

New beginnings

Here I am again.

So many of my friends have gone through this process.  I have began to think we were immune to this.
As of yesterday I have acquired some free time. so I will take this time to do what I have always wanted.

Play more guitar, yoga, organize my unfinished man cave and yes .......blog.

Let's see what happens
