Being Mentally Prepared
Like most kids, I always liked to pretend play. I believe this is great for your imagination and lays the foundation for your creative processes when your older. I remember when I was little, balancing on a curb or a log on the ground, while pretending to be stories above the ground trying so greatly not to fall. Actually visualizing the ground with traffic and people below me. Now at work as an adult I find myself working at great heights and as I look down I remember that feeling. I believe I was in some way training my mental self for this day.
Now at 31 years old I found myself doing this again. While trying to stop a leak on the roof , chipping ice build up. I couldn't help imagining I was ice climbing. With the wind blowing snow in my face and hanging on a ladder. I chipped the ice with my hammer and claw all day until the problem was fixed. All the while dreaming of ice climbing and thinking what it would be like to climb a mountain this way.
This makes the boring a little more interesting while completing a task that needs to be done. And I believe this is a way of mentally preparing myself for some ice climbing adventure that may occur during my lifetime.
I believe this means I am still young at heart. An always prepared for the future.
